The church stems from small beginnings in the late 1950’s. You can read more about this by clicking on “The church in the village” link on the left. Grimethorpe is a former coal-mining community. However, recent changes and new housing estates have created a now thriving village. There are 2 Junior and Infant schools, Ladywood and Milefield and the church has regular contact with both of them.
It is the heart of this church to reach out to the community, offering support, help and advice as required and a friendly ear for newcomers to the area. We run several groups including toddler club and kids’ holiday club, which you can find out more about by clicking the “Ministries” link on the left.
Over many years there has been an active partnership with the community. The Church has a town-wide perspective and holds regular prayer for all the areas in the Borough of Barnsley, a town of almost 250,000 people.
