Last month we highlighted some changes that would be taking place in the church. Change is inevitable, an ongoing part of life. Change happens to us all – in our personal and family life, work life, social life and church life. Life moves on and we need to adapt. How we respond to change can either develop our lives or hinder our growth.
When change happens we have to step out of our comfort zone. Life is constantly changing, and in these days things change so quickly – in the field of technology, for example, we just get used to working on TV, DVD recorder or computer and when we replace it everything has changed and we long for the old one that we were comfortable with.
Sometimes it is a fear of the unknown that prevents us from changing. We need to step out of the boat in faith like Peter, and we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus who will not fail us, and not look at the changing situation around us.
If we don’t like changes that are taking place it is easy to feel hurt, disappointed, let down, to want to run, to want to give up, but it’s important to envisage the future and the plans God has for us, Even though change can be frightening and unsettling, with God on our side we are able to embrace change and move on, so that we can make a difference!
