February is the month when shops are filled with hearts and flowers, bringing a message of love and hope. The Bible has much to tell us about hearts. Jesus tells us in John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” There are many people with troubled hearts, anxious about financial problems, worries about job security, health and family breakdown, but if we put our trust in Jesus He will help us through troubled times. We may not necessarily be freed from our circumstances but we can have the peace of God to help us through our anxieties and cares.

There are people with hard hearts, who do not care for the people around them or even their own family, neither for the things of God, but the Bible tells us in Ezekiel 36:26 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you. I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” – that is a heart that is full of tenderness and compassion, with a desire for the things of God and a love for Him.

Heart disease is known to be one of the biggest killers in the medical field, and also means that sufferers cannot enjoy their life to the full, but if we put our trust in Jesus, He will give us a new life, a different life, a life worth living.

Today, if you are feeling unloved, why not turn to Jesus? He loves us with an everlasting love and will never let us down.
