This month we celebrate Fathers’ day. It’s good to be able to honour our fathers and have a special opportunity to thank them for being there for us and for everything they do. Most children have good fathers, who love them wholeheartedly and take care of them, providing for them and meeting their every need. However, just as there are good fathers, there are also bad fathers, who do not care for their children, who will let them go hungry, do not clothe them properly and do not treat them decently, even shouting at them. Sadly, some fathers do not even wish to know their children or have anything to do with them or be involved in their upbringing.

Whatever our natural father is like, whether loving or not so kind, we have another father who loves us unconditionally, and that is our Father God in heaven. He does not love us only when we are good, He still loves us no matter how much we fail Him and let Him down. He loves us with an everlasting love and loves us so much that He gave His only Son Jesus to die on the cross in our place to save us from our sins.

If you do not know Jesus as your friend and Saviour, and God as your loving Heavenly Father, why not make this a Fathers’ Day to remember by asking Him into your life and see what a difference God can make in your life?
